Legionnaires' Disease is a pneumonia like illness caused by the Legionella bacteria and can be fatal. The infection is caused by breathing in small droplets of water contaminated by the bacteria, often caused when contaminated water becomes atomised (tiny droplets in the air) by sources such as taps, shower heads and burst or leaking pipework.
Landlord's of any residential accommodation have a responsibility to provide their tenants with clean, drinkable water and must combat any sign of Legionnaires' Disease found in their property.
At Estuary Technical Solutions we can carry out a full risk assessment of suspected infected water to find the source of any Legionella bacteria and following this we can perform a full water chlorination process to kill any bacteria within the pipework, tanks and fittings, restoring both the landlord's and tenants confidence in their hot and cold water supply.
Common sources of Legionnaires' Disease are poorly lagged loft stored water tanks, especially during the summer months when the temperature rises to between 20 and 45 degrees celsius and creates the perfect growing conditions for the Legionella bacteria.
